Abstract

The Cardinal Shehan fifty-year anniversary supplement to The Catholic Review, 1972, consists of a series of articles and advertisements celebrating Cardinal Shehan's 50th anniversary as a priest in the Catholic Church. Lawrence Joseph Shehan was made a cardinal in 1965 and served in Baltimore until his retirement in 1974. Cardinal Shehan celebrated his golden jubilee on December 23, 1972.

In 1886, he was appointed Cardinal-Priest of Santa Maria in Trastevere, becoming the second American to earn the rank in the Catholic Church.
